Change an asset's manufacturer

To ensure the application accurately reflects an asset's manufacturer, follow this process to associate the correct manufacturer with the asset's type. You can also use this process to create a new manufacturer in the system.

1. Go to Assets > All assets and select the asset whose manufacturer you want to change.

   Asset Detail open.

2. Click Search (magnifying glass button) for the Asset type.

3. In the dialog that opens, click New manufacturer for the asset type you want to assign to the asset.

   The New asset type manufacturer dialog opens, with the asset type you selected already populated.

4. Enter the Manufacturer and a Description for the manufacturer.

5. Click the magnifying glass for Category.

6. In the dialog that opens, select a category and subcategory combination and click Select.

   You return to the New asset type manufacturer dialog.

7. Click Select.

   Asset details now reflects the new asset type instance, as well as the category, subcategory, and new manufacturer.

   This process creates a new instance of the asset type you're assigning to the asset.
